If you would prefer to learn about this article through a video guide then please visit: Video: Granting Access to Google Search Console
At the beginning of a web project, we ask clients to grant us access to their Google Search Console (GSC) account: this is so that we can perform some technical tasks to ensure the website performs best in Google, and it allows us to monitor the overall performance of the website.
Our instructions below walk you through how to grant us access to GSC.
How to share access to your GSC account
- In a new Google tab, search for 'Google Search Console' and click on the first search result to open Google Search Console or go directly to https://search.google.com/search-console/about
- In the next window, click the 'Start now' button to access your account.
- Once you are logged in, make sure to check you are on the correct website, as it's possible to have multiple websites inside one account. Once you are happy you have the right website, on the left-hand side panel, click the settings tab to open the settings area, then click on 'users and permissions' under the general settings view.
- In the next window, click the 'add user' button to add a new user and enter the email address 'venndigital@gmail.com' in the email address bar.
- Select the option 'owner' to give us full access to your GSC account.
- Click the 'Add' button, and access to your GSC account will be shared with Venn. Once this is complete, you can log in to your Teamwork account and mark the corresponding task as complete within your project.
