Sometimes, you may want to link to an external site from a button on your website (e.g., your careers website), but the field in the module requires you to select a page from within the CMS. To do this, you will need to create an external page for your link, which is quick and easy to do within the Vennture CMS.
How to Create an External Page
Start by opening the CMS. By default, the "Web Pages" screen should open as shown below:
Select the "Add new page" button located above the page list, and you will be presented with the page setup window, where you will need to fill in the following fields:
- Type of page: External.
- Page name: This can be anything you want, but we suggest something that is easily recognisable when searching through your web pages.
- Page filename: This will be the URL of your external link.
- Display name: This is used if you add the external page to your navigation, and if left blank, you will use the page name field instead.
Once those four main fields have been completed, you can click "Save & Continue". This is all that's needed to create a new external link.
Now that the external page has been created, you are able to go back into any module with a button field and find the new page you've just created as one of the page options to link to.
Please Note: Once an external page has been created, it will require publishing before it can be correctly used. This can only be actioned via a full site publish. For more information, see Publishing Your Whole Site At Once.
